Dude this thing sucks man i m a hardcore football fan and now EPL has lost its charm at least for me and i was really waiting for la liga to kick off for weeks ive been searching on internet as to who will broadcast La liga. Well whats gone is gone. What I urge now to La liga fans across India is as far as I remember Ten Sports had a voting thing for La Liga broadcast u vote through SMS and the match that gets the most num of sms's is shown on Ten sports and the 2nd higest is shown on zee sports live hope they do the same thing this time pls vote as much as possible fo la liga teams i dont want to miss on this one.....................Hala Madrid.

All the differences apart.. of late Barca and Real have been playing football of the highest quality and we , lovers of the beautiful game sit here reading live updates in goal.com or some other online media..To say the least- its disgusting..These dump fellows continue broadcasting the boring EPL[Extremely Pathetic League] ...We should stop watching any of the programs broadcasted by them.Its rumored that ESPN-Star has no intension
to renew the rights for La liga brodcast...:(

I never trused espn star on their la liga broadcast even in the previous years, many times they'd show half a match or the last ten minutes of a match because other programmes occupied the same time slot, I hope some other sports channel picks up la liga and we better pray and hope that it wouldn't be an american broadcasting team. We don't want to listen to some yankee doodle who barely knows a thing about football. ESPN had gerry armstrong and we people in india were lucky to have that broadcasting team instead of some americans.

Absolutely agree with all three of you. its more about quality football than the leagues. The debate on which league is better will never end and never does make sense - its like saying which country is better, England or Spain? The point is, both leagues are doing the same service to football by putting up great shows. Right now, the show is MUCH more flamboyant in Spain.

About the commentary, I too though that Gerry Armstrong was the only person who knew La Liga inside out, none of those other Brits did. And while on the subject, the Ten Sports commentary of the CL sucks BIG time. They take the feed from an English channel and the commentators talk as if its England Vs The Rest of the World every match! Anyways it has been long since I saw a non-english club match on Ten.

They are all dictating capitalists!

ESS not only as deprived Indians fans from La Liga, but the Indian subcontinent, including Maldives. We are missing La Liga badly here in Maldives. I never get a reply from ESS not matter how many times I email them. Ten Sports do reply but it seems they are also reluctant to acquire the rights. The have said that it costs 10 times more (for the rights) than what they could actually get from advertisers. Why cannot ESS spare some money from the big revenue they are getting from cricket telecasting. And where are their parent companies. ESS is absolutely going back to stone age. And probably we are not sure whether they would win the EPL rights which is up for grabs starting next season. They are too much blinded by the cricket rights they have. Guys in India call up all sports broadcasters and pressure and persuade them for La Liga.

Funny thing is that a la liga black out wont happen even in England. There are enough english football fans who knows what la liga can give that EPL does not. It is in east and south asia especially India where football viewers are so clueless that anything can be sold to them with a little bit of cheap decoration

I am adie hard fan of barcelona , so i like to watch all the matches possible .I like to ask Solomon Rodrigues plz tell me where to vote for la liga .Give me the link in this page itself ,so i will vote as early as posible .

@al: it's just that EPL is a marketing juggernaut in asia more than anything else, if not for marketing and the fact that the matches are prime time slots, EPL would not be as big here. La Liga is not customized for english speaking audience and i doubt they even remember that asia is beyond Japan.

@vikki: the voting solomon is talking about is for the CL matches that are shown in Ten Sports. The matches that get highest votes are shown on Ten Sports and the second highest is shown on Zee Sports. Ten Sports shows a webcast of cricket, i am waiting for them to start this for football on their website as well. And to be frank, i doubt they will show Madrid Vs Milan even though they are showing Inter Vs Barca tonight. Atleast enjoy that for the time being vikki. First Barca match we will see this season. :)

@aditya: Blame it on marketing but still there is something about that group of people to which anything can be sold. There is only one hard reality here - the kick off times. While one can question the spanish federation for that, it is for the fans in the stadium that they kick off late with the region's climate, culture and all that. To me it is only right that the local fans are treated with priority especially by great clubs like Barcelona that is too much representative of its region. They've chosen not to sell their soul and it is hats off to them. Now champions league kick off late - does it mean say the Indian Chelsea fans ignore the competition altogether? Regarding customization, football traverse all sorts of boundaries and the role of language is limited to the commentary. Now I dont know of a better english commentator than Gerry Armstrong. Now, by customization if you meant stuff like football crazy, lockerroom, focus, fever, nonsense and the likes then I dont know what to say.

It is a great injustice to the entire subcontinent. La Liga is the best league this year with best palyers.

By customization I don't mean commentary or the sideshows. They are the broadcaster's headaches. Simple things like the banners they show on screen or stats that are shown are all in Spanish. That was what I meant.

And another week without Liga goes. Barca thrashed Atletico last night and Madrid game will also be awesome. :(

Man, this sucks....I am forced to stream Laliga matches online, and in India or atleast i dont have the net speed for Live streaming......Anybody has any idea who might ve picked up the telecasting....or any leads regarding that???

this sucks soo hard...like every spanish league fan i was looking forward to this new season cos it promises to be very exciting...cant imagine we'll miss El Clasico which is going to be one of the best in many years. dunno why those stupid espnstar people wud show even the least interesting EPL matches like wigan v/s hull, sometimes they even show golf, superbike or baseball in the late night time slot earlier occupied by la liga. now i have no other option but to get an even higher speed broadband connection and a subscription to justin.tv to stream all real madrid's league and CL matches which is gonna cost me thousands extra every year.

This is bullshit man!! They show all those 3rd graded EPL matches, but we can't see the El Classico-the greatest football match in the world!! I am a die hard football fan and its really pathetic to know that la liga wont be broadcasted in india. But i am quite happy to have my clubs matches being broadcasted...haha... MAN Utd.
I feel sorry for the barca and real fans really....when u have players like kaka ronaldo benzema zlatan messi all playing in one league i guess it deserves a lot of attention.........but then i have started to watch these matches through live streams recently and it works well!!!...all u need is to have a 10mbs net speed ....sure u can see the matches on justintv or channelsurfin.net or even Sopcast ...they are hell lot of options....so i only say u guyz to get a fast net connection and ENJOY!!!!!

we could start an online petition for ESS to acquire the broadcast rights. I'm sure when they see the sizable fan base they'll have dollar signs in their eyes.

I don't care about La Liga, if they would hv shown it would hv better, but this year's La Liga is awfully boring, it seems barca & real will score 100 goals this season & match between these two teams will decide where Silverware will go. In contrast EPL is seeming much intrested with Chelsea's ban on buying new players, as united lost Ronaldo & Tevez & with all new big signings of City & resurgent Tottenham, gap between top4 & others has been reduced. We hv seen this on last weekend's manchester derby.

Why can't EPSN STAR make a dedicated football channel in India?, Just like the STAR CRICKET, The way most indians are now, I think they would rather see ICL over La liga, practically they think any other game apart from cricket isn't worth watching, which is a shame.

No number of petitions or hatemails will get EPSNSTAR to resign la liga, isn't gonna happen. we have to be realistic, I thought this year's la liga broadcast would be much better than last year because of all the money being thrown around and surprisingly, they dropped la liga altogether.

Espn Star should rename their 3 channels as ESPN Cricket, Star Cricket 1 and Star Cricket 2. It's raining cricket on the 3 channels these days and I'm sick of seeing cricket on 3 channels all day long. Then you flip to other sports channels.. wow! it's cricket again.

Even if ESS make a dedicated football channel i think it would be called EPL Channel. Come on! cowards ..... get us La Liga or get the hell out of the business!

Please do not give up on the petition and (hate)mails. People are trying different things - a good number of petition signatures may be of help in ways not apparent at the moment. It would be wrong to say that la liga is on the same page as epl but we all like to see the world's best players in action.Only 2 teams are strong contenders for the title.It does not make economic sense to broadcast all matches but they should have broadcasted madrid,barca's and valencia's matches atleast.But the fact that i cannot see madrid beaten 6-2 again saddens me.As a football fan i watch bundesliga too.it is 2nd best after epl imao.

ten sports broadcasting barca tv every wednesday i have seen couple of barca games this season. v may not able to see the el classico live but atleast v might see the 90 mins highlights.

few years ago the no. of people like us who really love to watch the football was very small (tends to 0) as compared with the fucking cricket loving persons. but the amount of people like us is increasing every year . so i hope that 2-3 years later all the prestigious leagues in uefa will be available in india.

i am also very unhappy with the broad casting of uefa champions league (UCL) in zee sports . they not provide any presentation before or after the game. and not update the other game's results that continued at that time in all around the uefa.

I think India needs a few more sports channels else we might never get to watch nice football leagues like the SPanish La liga or Serie A.

El-Clasico is going to be aired DELAYED on Tensports on Tues, 1st Dec, 11.30pm India. You'll be having the full match, though not LIVE. At least better than nothing; but after you have known the score there's little fun involved, i guess :)

Guys I too really miss La Liga, but that does not call for unnecessarily degrading EPL.
When is the last time you remember that atleast 2 EPL teams were not in the QF or even the SF of UCL?..
And the kick off times are so early, mainly on weekends and mainly due to Brit's weather. They too kick off late during Weekdays and come on don't even get me started on the gaping differences in quality of the top and bottom teams in the La Liga.
Please do remember that we all started to watch Club football more or less due to EPL, and lets be grateful to that.

@nikhil: everyone has their own opinion dude...let them have it..and also, i didnt start watching football cos of EPL. I do like EPL for what it is, but i think the style of football played in La Liga is better than that in EPL. Thats just my opinion however :)

seriously y cant there be some way of subscribing for sky sports on tv....i spoke to my operator he said its impossible....Sky sports would cover the indian football fan's needs.Except for the late kickoff of premier league game on sat(11:00 pm IST usually man united home games) and cl games on tuesday they have the rights for everything else..Added to this we can get in-depth analysis after and before games(although bbc is miles ahead in terms of analysing games and commentary)...And we can get an entire trophy presentation!!! i bring this up b coz last season wen united won the trophy ESS immediately cut the feed and started showing newcastle's game...The feeling was worse than being stabbed in the back!!!!!

This really sucks.Although its a two-horse race & not at the same pace as the EPL,the Spanish league is always worth a watch Though an EPL fan for 9 years now I wouldn't miss El Clasico.If knowing that El Clasico wouldn't be telecast in India wasn't bad enough I read this in Sid Lowe's report in The Guardian:

Ya ure partially right about d fact dat epl teams r not dat bad as I perceive them to be, but dat is largely due to the influx of money from the Russian billionaires or Oil rich sheikhs...unlike Barca and Real who have themselves created their iconic clubs by sheer hardwork and great business strategies...and about ur latter fact dat 3 epl teams have qualified, get ur facts rite dude coz 3 spanish clubs( real, barca & sevilla) as well as 4 Italian clubs(AC Milan, Inter ,Fiorentina & Juve)have also made it to d knockout stages.

Firstly I said 3 english clubs hav qualified bfor the last day of group fixtures. Ur madrid, AC milan hav qualified only on d last day. Secondly Juve is now out of d ucl.

I also want to say d net amnt dat madrid has spent over last 3 or 4 year is more dan wat man u has and u urself know wat man u has achieved in EPL and UCL in last few years.Compare dat 2 madrid`s success nd u`ll fnd urself. La Liga is best football league in the world right now and i am sure despite the less favorable timings (compared to EPL) it wud still have a massive fan following. ESS should at least have a limited tie up for RM and Barca matches. That way, they do not have to shell more that their budget and at the same time they wud get the required eyeballs to make it a commercial success.

That's nonsense! There is no way that Skysports can be shown in India and the region officially as they do not have downlinking permissions in India. And also sports broadcasting by specific channels are restricted to different geographical areas.

yup laliga is going 2 b missed surely with so may stars in spain this season.. but honestly there is nothing apart frm barcelona and Real Madrid 2 watch in laliga... EPL is much better but still i wish i cud watch Real Madrid

i don't understand our people, making issue of all the bull shits about the way Sania Mirza dresses and all the other non-sence subjects. why don't they realize that the sports is the ideal way to peace and the football is the most beautiful and reliable of all of them. I feel that people in India are making fool out of themselves. they are satisfying them selves by being confined at Cricket becoz they cannot play football well. I the mentality of the Indian people don't change time will come when India will be playing the world cup along with Somalia and other backward countries.

Its easy and pretty damn good broadcast. No skysports though :(.
I've stopped watching EPL on ESPN STAR. The only thing I watch on that channel is F1 as they are amazing with that and Tennis.

the name is super sports....and m nt having any dth .....its on cable wid the set top box....ask ur cable operator if he provides with set top box....in my area its called digicable.....u can view fa cup matches carling cup and la liga n sometimes seria a aswell.....i wonder hw can this channel broadcast all this n espn or star sports cannot....m a hardcore football fan n because of this channel m nt switching to dth.....

I have been mailing Ten sports to show la liga team when it comes to champions league matches...who would want to watch those EPL now all the good players are in spain....so wake up ten sports...buy la liga.....

Although I am a passionate LFC supporter I really wish that they would show La Liga in India not just Real Madrid and Barca but other teams too . I actually really like Valencia , I love watching players like Mata and Silva . I want to see La Liga I enjoyed watching it before I am pissed hey cut it off . I hate using streams !
